U.S. News & World Report ranked Granby Memorial High School 19th out of the state’s 195 public, charter and magnet high schools, according to a report released today.

The rankings are based on the ratio of students to teachers, college readiness (percent taking AP exams and passing), and math and reading test scores.

The McLean Game Refuge encompasses 4,416 acres of land in Granby, Canton and Simsbury, Conn. The diverse park originally contained 3,400 acres left to the public in Senator George P. McLean’s will when he died in 1932. The McLean Game Refuge, managed by the McLean Fund, has since grown to include several smaller parcels of preserved land.

Over 20 miles of well-marked hiking trails and two horse trails wind through the parks that make up the McLean Game Refuge. The main entrance is located on Salmon Brook Rd. in Granby where there is plenty of parking and access to the main trails. The McLean Game Refuge headquarters and a picnic area are located on Barndoor Hills Rd. in West Granby. Other entrances to the park with less parking can be found on Canton Rd., Firetown Rd. and Great Pond Rd. in Simsbury.
